My Background

I teach, write, and play with all things art. In addition to snapping photos, I’m a mixed-media artist and showcase some of my work at local businesses. I hold a certification in art therapy and believe playful creation is pivotal to mental well-being. Ten percent of my art sales are donated to Advocates for Victims of Assault, and I’ve run free workshops for Mountain Mentors, Theater SilCo, and other community organizations. I teach at the Art Spot in Silverthorne, Colorado, but am happy to arrange in-home classes.

In addition to art, I’m an award-winning author and run writing workshops and offer editing services (be sure to scroll around the website). After raising three amazing kids, my husband and I can now be found hiking with our loveable pit bull, Yoshi.

Art Tips

Want to create art? My three best pieces of advice…

1. Play.

That's the best thing I can tell you. Pick up a pen, crayon, your camera, or whatever draws your spirit’s attention. Don’t worry about rules or results. Let go of perfection, and instead, play like a toddler.

2. Embrace.

Call yourself an artist and embrace your unique self. We are often our own best critics, so don’t be. Cast aside judgment and resist the temptation to compare yourself to other artists. Remember, they started at the beginning, too.

3. Discover.

Enjoy the process of creating. Hopefully, you’ll enter a creative flow while painting and playing.  Allow yourself the time and space to discover what’s on the page and in your heart.
